Yoshii Hotori was part of Native's Creator's Collection and was available to order for a limited period from Native's online store. Hotori was released before we started collecting figures, so we ended up buying her on Mandarake shortly after release. All of Native's Creator's Collection have substantially increased in value, so you should expect to pay quite a bit more if you don't pre-order. We ended up paying 16000 yen for Hotori, new and sealed. Since then, Yoshii Hotori has jumped up to over 25,000 yen which is absolutely crazy but fairly typical of Native figures. Hotori is a particularly stunning example of Native's work, as well.
If you are a fan of ero figures, it's hard not to sound overly enthusiastic when talking about Hotori. We own a ton of ero figures and we eagerly anticipate each one but none ever seem to surpass Hotori. A few, such as Princess Stella and Cat Lap Milk, come close but none ever seem to outdo her.
She's the apple of our eyes and has held her place at the top of our favourite figure lists for a number of years. She is a pefect example of Native doing what they do best. She's stunning so prepare for me to gush about this absolutely beautiful figure.
All of the boxes for the Creator's Collection are styled after the figure inside and Yoshii is no different. The box is styled to look like the gym horse that Yoshii is posed leaning on. As with all of the boxes for the Native figures we own, there are no windows or pictures of the figure on the box. The design is plain, with Native's logo, Yoshii's name and the sculptor's name printed on the front.
The relevant company information and so on is printed on the back. Other than this text, there is nothing else on the box. While I really like the gym horse design and the minimalist approach to text and things on the box, upon opening it, the cardbard inside is left plain brown and, to be honest, it looks cheap and ugly as the box is made of regular cardboard.
I would have preferred it if it was white and glossy inside, or something just to make it look a little nicer, but of course, it doesn't really matter what the inside of the box looks like.
Yoshii sits safely within a large blister inside of the box, with her grey base in a separate blister behind the main figure. A lovely and unique box, as usual from Native, but the quality could stand to be a little better. The box measures roughly 10.5 inches (27 cm) tall, by 8.5 inches (22 cm) wide, by 4.5 inches (11 cm) deep.
Yoshii stands at about eight inches tall from her base to the top of her head, in a shy pose, leaning on a gym horse.
The artwork that this lovely lady is based on is included as an A6 sized postcard, as is always the case with the Creator's Collection.
Native are a consistently high quality manufacturer, with all of their figures that we own having no painting flaws or ugly seams. All of their sculpts are seemingly top-notch and there are never any snags are anything like that left over from moulding or painting. Yoshii is the same, with the only seam line being the usual one across the top of the head, which is present on most, if not all, figures and even then, it could be passed off as part of her hairstyle.
The sculptor, Ken Kawanishi, has done an outstanding job sculpting Yoshii, she is probably the highest quality figure we own, even among other Native figures. All of the fine details are sculpted neatly and painted accurately. Most of Yoshii's hair is made of a slightly flexible plastic, so it has enough give in it to not break if you happen to catch it on anything, which is great for me as I'm very clumsy!
While I prefer the expression on the artwork more, as I think it looks a little naughtier, Native have done a good job making the expression work on a figure. Her eyes are painted beautifully and accurately, keeping the slightly washed-out, dreamy colours of the artwork and all of the smaller details.
There is a cute blush lightly painted on Yoshii's cheeks, bold enough to be seen but not enough to be over-bearing. Her mouth is slightly agape with embarrassment and concern and again, is sculpted brilliantly, painted carefully with a shade of pale pink. Even tiny teeth have been sculpted into her mouth, which is a nice detail that, despite being obvious is not all that common.
Very few companies seem to bother doing this, with a lot of figure's mouths frequently looking like they have false teeth that they haven't put in!
Yoshii's jacket is detailed very well, with lots of realistic wrinkling and folding, with perfect shading to highlight this further.
Yoshii's t-shirt is pulled up, exposing her small breasts. The sculpting of the material here is again very realistic and painted well. A tiny whistle hangs between Yoshii's breasts, on a real string that it can move freely on, which is a lovely touch and is common on Native figures.
Yoshii's breasts are sculpted and shaded beautifully. I love the way that her t-shirt is digging into her chest just a little bit, making her breasts bulge out a little, it's such a sexy detail on figures that I always appreciate!
There is no detailing to Yoshii's nipples, however, only being slightly shaped and shaded a deep pink, unlike other Native figures we own, which is a shame, but it quite suits her. Yoshii also has a gorgeous, toned stomach, with lovely definition to her abdomen and ribs.
Yoshii's perfect and sexy bottom is obviously the focus point of the figure and Native have done a brilliant job making sure that you can't tear your eyes away!
Yoshii's bottom is shaded and sculpted to an incredible standard. Her sporty shorts are digging into the flesh of her bum, which as I mentioned earlier is a detail I absolutely adore. I love it when figures have that little bit of fat on them, it makes me want to pinch them! I find it very sexy!
She definitely has the best bum in our entire collection, with only perhaps Alphamax's Reiko coming close.
Yoshii's vulva has very little detail compared to Native's recent and upcoming releases, but are very much standard for the Native up until now.
There is some nice pink shading and a single line of detailing, but not much else.
Yoshii has lovely hands, which are tucked into the inside of her shorts as she tugs them down coyly. Her fingers are sculpted nicely, but could have more detail than they do.
Moving down, Yoshii's legs are stretched out and tense, with the sculpt very accurately reflecting her muscles working to keep her balanced. There is lots more shading all the way down her legs and yet more slightly-too-tight-clothing, this time being Yoshii's long socks.
Native have sculpted her leg to look like it's actually going into her shoe, instead of just carving a line to show the divide, and there is also a small crease in her sock at her ankle joint.
It's a small touch that many people probably won't notice, but lovely none the less. Yoshii's shoes have the same amount of attention shown to them as the rest of her clothes,
with lots of creasing and wrinkling, accurate shading and even a tread has been sculpted into the sole.
The gym horse which Yoshii is leaning on is made of a rigid plastic and is completely hollow. There is some nice detailing to the studs holding the cover onto the top, but I think it would have been nice to see some wrinkling or a small dip where Yoshii's knee rests, as not only would this be more accurate, it would add some more stability to the figure too.
The gym horse moves freely around on the base, so you have to be careful if you move Yoshii around. She is only secured into the base by one peg in her left foot, her other leg rests on the gym horse to ensure she stays balanced. It would be good to check from time to time that she is secured onto the peg properly, just to make sure.
Yoshii also comes with a clip board, which appears to maybe a class register or something similar. The clip is nicely detailed and there is some small text printed along the top of the page too.
The clip board, like the gym horse, isn't attached to anything, so can be positioned wherever you like.
Yoshii is a very high quality figure, with no painting mistakes or ugly seam lines. The sculpt is clean and sharp all over. Even on her numerous small details, the painting is consistent and there is no transfer to surrounding areas and all of her shading is neat and delicate.
I can't really find anything negative to say here! I haven't heard of any quality control issues from anyone else either. Yoshii is one of the highest quality figures that we own and is, personally, worth every last penny we paid for her. Native have outdone themselves once again.
Yoshii comes packaged with a gym horse, a clip board, a grey base textured to resemble concrete and an A6 postcard featuring the original artwork that the figure is based on. The clip board is optional, but Yoshi obviously cannot be displayed without the gym horse. The gym horse moves freely around the base, but with Yoshii leaning on it and secured into the base properly, it doesn't move much. A small clear wedge secures into the base and her left foot to keep her balanced.
The base is plain grey and is textured, very effectively I might add, to look like concrete. The clip board is nicely detailed, with some neat painting and small text printed on it, but there's not much else to say about it.
The postcard is printed to a high standard and is lovely and glossy. We have ours in a small clip frame, displayed on the wall behind the figure, along with other Native figures we own.
We bought a new and sealed Yoshii for 16000 yen, about six months after she was released, from Mandarake. Opened Native figures are generally around 1000 to 2000 yen cheaper, but make sure to check the descriptions carefully to see if there is any damage to the figure or other details such as the postcard being missing and so on. All of Native's releases tend to gain a lot of value fairly quickly after release, but as long as you don't mind a hefty price tag, they are quite common on stores like Mandarake and Jungle. Yoshii is normally available for around 24,000+ yen.
Yoshii is a must have for any Native collector or fan of ero figures. Her sculpting is top notch and her painting is flawless all over. While it is a bit of a shame that none of her clothes are adjustable or removable, it doesn't really take anything away from her as a whole. A seductive and sexy pose, combined with some great and fairly accurate sculpting make Yoshii one of Native's true masterpieces and I'm very pleased with her, she has all of the little touches and details that I love.
We paid quite a high price, but to me, she is worth every penny. I wasn't expecting a great deal when we ordered her, but she really proved me wrong! Yoshii now sits very comfortably at the top of my list of favourite figures, and made Native one of my favourite manufacturers.
